2024 Michigan Go Championship Expands Prizes, Early Bird Deadline April 7

Updated: Jun 23

Madison Heights, Michigan - March 24, 2024: The 2024 Michigan Go Championship, co-hosted by the American Collegiate Go Association (ACGA) and Association of Chinese Americans (ACA), will take place on Saturday, April 27. Our event already has 22 players registered, ranging from 18-Kyu to 7-Dan, with eight top players in the Open section. See our Who’s Coming sheet

We’re excited to announce an expanded prize pool for our players. The Open section and all Dan divisions will receive cash prizes. The top finisher in the Open section is guaranteed at least $500.

Winners of the Kyu division will receive vouchers to either Go Magic or Tsumego Dragon, along with other donated prizes. Go Magic’s online platform (website) that offers interactive courses, articles, and Go problems has drawn over 20,000 users worldwide. Tsumego Dragon (website) is a Go problem app developed by long-time Go teacher Shawn Ray 5D.

We are thrilled to collaborate with the Evanston Go Club, host of the upcoming 2024 Chicago Open over Memorial Day Weekend on May 25-26 with special guest Kim Jiseok 9P. We are hosting a joint fundraising event featuring Goban grocery bags. All proceeds from this initiative will support collegiate and Midwest Go endeavors. To secure your bag, simply indicate your desired quantity of bags in our registration form

Register on our registration form by April 7 to take advantage of our $20 early bird discount. Discounts are also available for college students, youth and first-time AGA players. See our guide for helpful recommendations on accommodations and attractions.
