February 11, 2024 - The American Collegiate Go Association (ACGA) launched free weekly Go lessons starting Feb. 3, 2024. The lessons cater to beginner players up to 5-Kyu players. The lessons will now occur every Saturday from 5 - 7 pm ET via Zoom.
Led by instructors Howard Wong 2D, Andrew McGowan 1D and Jerry Ju 3D, the lessons strive to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for players to deepen their understanding of the game.
“I want to give back to the Go community. I hope to teach a new generation of players about the beauty of Go,” Howard Wong said.
The instructors hope to see more people, especially youth, participate in the lessons.
“Teaching benefits the teacher as well as the student. I hope more people will join our sessions and create a contagious atmosphere of friendly competition and supportiveness,” Andrew McGowan said.
The lessons have already garnered positive feedback from participants. “It’s amazing that there’s a free resource for learning Go. I really love that,” said Jim Seibert, one of the participants.
No registration is required for these lessons.
