December 26, 2023: The American Collegiate Go Association (ACGA) is overjoyed to announce updates for its inaugural virtual ACGA Pilot Tournament, set to take place on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. In the spirit of the season, ACGA has implemented improvements across divisions, prizes and sponsorship.
Overview:
As the festive cheer fills the air, join us in welcoming 40 players from 20+ universities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States! The top division features 16 players, including three AGA 7-Dans. Special recognition goes to Case Western Reserve University, UC Davis and the National Autonomous University of Mexico for the best turnout. Find our Who’s Coming sheet here.
The ACGA utilizes the McMahon pairing, which sets different initial scores for players. This system ensures equitable matchups by awarding additional points to lower-ranked players who defeat a higher-ranked opponent during the tournament. Its design guarantees that players face opponents of similar performance in subsequent rounds, maintaining fairness throughout the event.
